Selkie: Out of the Tower

Selkie is a woman-owned, inclusive luxury fashion brand that encourages artistic self-expression through dressing up. Their whimsical pieces break the barrier between formalwear and costume, and each line is driven by fantastical narratives that feel like they’re taken straight from the pages of a fairytale. Since Selkie is dedicated to sustainability, they produce their clothing in small batches to lower their economic impact.

 

Unfortunately, their small batches and price points combined with their current popularity causes their clothing to sell quickly, making the brand less accessible to people without significant disposable income. To help increase accessibility for their 2022 spring line “Out of the Tower”, I designed a print piece that could be released before the collection’s launch so that people with less disposable income could plan to save accordingly to afford their favorite pieces right as they release online.

My Approach

For this project I drew most of my inspiration from the line itself, making sure the pieces were the main focal point with minimalist design layouts to support the maximalist nature of the clothing.
