Kyushu Travel Site

Kyushu is Japan’s southernmost island home to active volcanoes, gorgeous natural landmarks, and a treasure trove of rich history. In recent years, Kyushu has begun to position itself in the tourism industry as the gateway to Asia. While each region has been engaging in construction projects and activities related to tourism, they still aren’t seeing much growth in comparison to other islands like Hokkaido and Okinawa. In order to help Kyushu tourism gain greater notoriety with both national and international travelers, I want to create an updated version of their local travel site. Giving Kyushu more of an online presence will help to draw in younger tourists and expats which will help to position it as a must-visit destination for more socially and fiscally active travelers.

This project was created for a university course and is not affiliated with the Kyushu tourism industry.

My Approach

When designing this site, I was heavily inspired by Kyushu’s stunning natural features which led me to include a color palette that reflects their abundant greenery and make the website primarily image driven. I coded this site in HTML/CSS so many interactive elements like hovers, links, videos, dropdown menus, and fixed scrolling elements are viewable on the live version of the site.
