Local Expat
Expats are people who temporarily relocate outside of their native country. Today, there are more than 50 million expats in the US alone, and there are around 9 million US expats that are living abroad, that number only continues to grow. As more people are embarking on their expat journeys, it is more important than ever that expats have a tool to help them quickly navigate these new changes so they can focus on assimilating to their new home
Local Expat is a travel app designed by expats for expats to help navigate the uncertainty that comes with relocating outside of your native country. This app is designed to be an all encompassing travel app where expats can connect to other expats, rent accommodations, find reliable and updated travel information, sign up for tours or specialty experiences, and stay up to date on the expat-friendly events being hosted in their new location.

Interface
Over the course of ten weeks, my teammates and I conducted primary and secondary research, developed complex customer personas, established cohesive brand elements and messaging, conducted several rounds of rigorous user testing, to create an intuitive app that realistically has the potential to help expats adjust easily to their new lives abroad.

Website
The website is meant to give a more in-depth look at the Local Expat outside of google play or the app store. Communication is a huge part of Local Expat’s identity, so it’s important that there is a transparent space where users can access pertinent information about the company and its mission. This site also helps us cater to a variety of ages as many older expats don’t casually browse the app store.
